Ultimo Constructions at work on Rose Bay Vet.

We've successfully joined the existing veterinary practice and the adjacent shop, laid a new floor substrate and have the air con crew setting up a new system to keep the consult rooms and reception area at separate optimum temperatures.

Three years in the making and we are finally under construction at Rose Bay Vet Hospital; 8 Newcastle Street, Rose Bay!

With the current practice bursting at the seams (straight into shop number six), and sister dog-grooming business, Paws About, acquiring the former Blumenthal location at number two, the Newcastle street string of animal devotees is being dubbed "The Vet and Pet Corner".

Rose Bay Vet Hospital co-owners Dr. Michael Linton and Dr. Howard Smyth have high hopes for their developing practice. Linton joined forces with Smyth in 2011 to create a four-veterinarian team practice open seven days a week. "In the early days we would be sitting by the computer waiting for a client to walk through the door, now we crave a quiet day!" says Linton.

These days, they have their hands full with sock-swallowing Labradors, pet snakes and chickens, animal surgeries and plenty of canine/feline consultations. A typical day can be described as "MAD!" so much so, they developed and invested in neighbouring business EVE - a 24 hour vet service to address the enormous after hours pet care demand.

Smyth, with over thirty years veterinary experience, and Linton, who is furthering his studies to become a feline medicine specialist, are both looking forward to seeing their physical space at Rose Bay Vet Hospital transform to reflect their business aspirations of providing first class care for their patients; “We want to create a veterinary hospital where both our clients and patients love coming through the door because we have been able to create a warm, comfortable environment that provides the best quality health care”, says Linton.

Working closely with them in all aspects of interior design and branding, the plan is to double the number of consult rooms, including the creation of dedicated specialised cat and dog consult spaces, and devise a designer scheme for every two and four-legged customer to drool over. It will include ceramic timber flooring, fake turf, white picket fences and boutique finishings to emulate the family vibe that the practice works and swears by.

"Rose Bay Veterinary Hospital is more like a home and the staff are more like a family" says Linton, " I could not ask for a better work culture, and the way our customers care for their animals is lovely to witness”.

The new fitout is due for completion around early September, and in the meatime the team are business as usual out of the regular premises.

Paws up if you want to see updates on the progress!

2012 saw me introduced to globe trotting shoe queen and yummy mummy Jaime Wright; an ex model and TV personality now designing shoes for renowned Australian fashion label Camilla.  Wright had a  particular design aesthetic  that she wanted to pursue, so we put our designer heads together on the family's three bedroom semi in Bondi Junction.

The overall objective was to upgrade the interior and make the spaces better suited to the family's daily needs, without over capitalizing.

The home underwent some serious spatial reshuffling, and after a multitude of planning concepts led to the creation of a new master bedroom,  larger main bathroom and open plan kitchen/ living/ dining space with bifold’s onto the huge north facing garden.

Between the family's trips to Bali and Adelaide, we pulled together a glam, bold scheme including calacutta marble benchtops, black japan floors, Tiffany blue trim and bevelled bronze back mirror tiles -  much to the tiler's delight who nearly went cross eyed trying to install them.

Construction was staged which allowed the family to live in the house while the renovations were being carried out, something that has both its upsides and downsides, but after a few months the dust was over and their gorgeous new home was complete as pictured.

A huge thank you to John & Jaime for being incredibe, patient and always positive clients to work with, their big blue eyed boy for all his smiles at site meetings! And of course Giselle, the exclusive but hairy model on the sofa making our photoshoot extra fabulous.

Renovations for Rose Bay Vet are set to commence Monday 2nd June. Do you think these little guys are looking excited? (They'll be moving before the bulldozers arrive, don't worry!)

Hello everyone!

It is my absolute pleasure to welcome you to my first ever blog.

Over the last four years I have worked tirelessly to build an interior design business based on premium design and superior customer service, with the commitment of running every aspect of the process personally, right down to the building of this website.

It has seen me produce exclusive furniture packages and design numerous residential interiors, collaborate on boutique projects with developers and renown architects, design and advise for the rental market, produce fitouts for iconic Australian fashion designers such as Charlie Brown, and everything else from commercial medical offices, a pole dance studio, to the most recent project under construction - a veterinary clinic.

The support and opportunities I have encountered have been phenomenal, and I want to thank you all for putting your trust in my business.

I'm excited to be opening up a method of dialogue with this blog, where you can check out current designer ideas and issues, project photographs and real time info on what's happening in the world of Yvette Philips Interior Design.

I would love to hear your feedback, comments, questions and suggestions along the way.

So watch this space for some upcoming highlights, including the recently completed home of model and shoe queen Jaime Wright, and much more which I look forward to sharing with you.
